Ice climbing for Touching the VoidTouching the Void posterSteep climbing in Mexico

2003 was a challenging one with further shooting for the 'Touching The Void' project which is also featured in the 2002 assignments plus an exciting shoot in Mexico for the BBC's 'Extreme Lives' series.  In December the World Cup Climbing Finals were held in Edinburgh and filmed for BBC Scotland.

We started shooting this project last year but our final period threw up some interesting work conditions.  Alpine temperatures were  down to -20C with strong winds and plenty of spindrift.  These storm conditions certainly add atmosphere to the finished film which has won 'Best Feature Film' at the Banff Film Festival and 'Best Of Festival & People's Choice at the Kendal Mountain Film Festival.  Touching The Void is on national cinema release from December 12th 2003.  Click here to see UK listings and reviews !!

This was the last piece of the jigsaw for Ginger Productions' programme 'Extreme Lives' featuring Leo Houlding and Tim O'Neil.  Looking for a first major climbing objective after his accident in Patagonia Leo was drawn to Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) in Potrero Chico, Mexico.  We left them climbing skywards after the first 1100 feet.
